Arriving in Auckland

It has been quite a season to be a Bradford City fan. Just before we left the UK we secured our place in the playoffs with victory over Burton, the same team we would play in the semi-final. I’d woken up early to watch us lose the first leg and was gutted that the season defining second leg was taking place while we were in a complete information blackhole en route from Tokyo (it can’t be long before we demand web access when we’re airborne). Happily there was 30 minutes of free wifi at Auckland airport leaving Christine, with eyes rolling, distancing herself from the weird, claret and amber clad person randomly celebrating in an airport (we won). Arriving in Japan

Tuesday 23rd / Wednesday 24th April

It turns out that BA’s Tuesday lunchtime flights to Tokyo are very quiet. No idea whether that’s always the case but it was for us. For an 11.5 hour flight it was remarkably smooth – I don’t think we had any turbulence at all!

We both managed a little bit of sleep – but not enough given that after landing in Tokyo it would take us another 9 hours of travelling to get to Hiroshima.

We got through immigration fine, and our bags were waiting for us on the carousel, but as soon as we entered Japan proper our ‘money-saving’ schemes caught up with us. Continue reading Arriving in Japan
